Write for us
We welcome pitches about collecting, cataloguing, sharing, reuse and small-scale making. Send proposals through the Contact page, with the reason for writing set to editorial question or contribution.
What suits the publication
Strong proposals start with a specific reader question or a useful decision: how to make a collection easier to browse, what a catalogue needs to record, or how to give surplus material a sensible next use. We favour distinct subjects that can stand on their own and remain useful beyond a passing trend.
What to include in a pitch
Tell us the working idea, the main point the piece would help readers understand, its likely shape and why it fits Brilliant Directory. Mention relevant experience only where it helps explain your approach; do not imply credentials or testing that you do not have. A short outline is more useful than a finished article sent without context.
A clear and independent approach
We look for careful, original writing that respects readers' different spaces, budgets and preferences. Pitches should avoid unsupported claims, disguised promotion and advice that depends on professional or local approval. A proposal is not a promise of publication, and any commissioned terms would be discussed before work begins.
Keep good things moving.
A useful collection need not be large or expensive. We look at the decisions that help objects and ideas stay findable, useful and ready to share.
